The Opportunity

This is an urgent, high-impact leadership role reporting directly to the CTO. You will be the VP of Software Engineering responsible for setting the technical vision and execution across the entire platform, including cloud services, edge devices, and integrations.
You will take ownership of the engineering operating model , raise the technical bar, and lead a growing team of five software engineers (plus partners). This role is critical to scaling the engineering function to support the company's aggressive growth goals. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Do

As the VP of Software Engineering, you will be expected to:
  • Hire, mentor, and organize the growing team for velocity; foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Set the technical vision and own execution across software, hardware, and connectivity—prioritizing reliability, security, and scale across cloud services, edge devices, and integrations.
  • Establish SLAs/SLOs, security baselines, and incident response; champion observability and performance.
  • Define processes, coding standards, and quality practices, including code review, CI/CD, and test automation.
  • Be comfortable being hands-on and coding when needed; you will actively roll up your sleeves and contribute to the code alongside the team.
  • Collaborate with the CTO, Product, Operations, and Customer Success to align engineering output with customer and business outcomes

Who You Are

  • You are a proven success as a VP/Head of Engineering or similar senior leadership role in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have 8+ years of experience leading technology teams, including deep expertise in people leadership and organizational design.
  • You have deep knowledge of software development and systems architecture, with a track record of building secure, reliable, and scalable systems.
  • You are proficient in AWS infrastructure and cloud services and have a strong understanding of secure token flows, Cognito authentication, and MFA enforcement within mobile applications.
  • You have strong proficiency in Java (most critical), as well as development experience with C#, .NET Core, and MySQL.
  • You are capable of leading mobile development with strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Flutter, React, and React Native, including experience with iOS/Android build processes, application publication, and Over-The-Air (OTA) mobile updates.
The Ideal Candidate will come from a tech, SaaS, or hardware company of comparable or greater size. They possess excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills , with the ability to make data-driven decisions. They are a hands-on leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial, growth-focused culture and is not resistant to change and growth. Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience in physical security, access control, video, or managed services.
  • Familiarity with hardware, connectivity, and IoT (strongly preferred) , including background with edge/embedded systems and telemetry.
  • Exposure to reliability engineering and field service environments
