Business Development Executive

The Opportunity

This is an Individual Contributor sales role based in the Houston market.  The Business Development Executive will drive sales across the company's global event portfolio for key regions: Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. The focus is on selling exhibition space, sponsorship/advertisement, and technical products to achieve revenue targets. The role involves managing 70–100 accounts tied to major exhibitors and sponsorship opportunities. This position is crucial for the primary revenue-producing US show in Houston.

What You Will Do

  • Act as an ambassador for the event series, operating with a consultative approach to become a regional industry expert.
  • Secure new revenue and rebook existing business across exhibitions, digital, and sponsorship solutions, with new business actively pursued and prioritized.
  • Achieve and exceed event and personal sales targets through direct selling to new and existing clients.
  • Engagement includes phone outreach, Teams meetings, in-person client visits, and competitor event attendance.
  • Build sales plans for assigned countries/sectors and execute them to maximize revenue.
  • Self-source leads by networking at industry conferences and events, and through online research.
  • Manage customer relationships by maintaining regular contact, acting as the primary point of contact, and keeping them informed of event developments.
  • Ensure accurate sales forecasting and reporting of sales revenue across the portfolio.

Who You Are

  • Minimum of 3 years of business to business sales experience, successfully developing and closing new business.
  • You must demonstrate attributes such as curiosity, willingness to learn, time management, critical thinking, and adaptability.
  • You must have a strong background in both telephone and face-to-face sales.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Show hunger, resilience, adaptability, and self-motivation in new business sales development.
  • Must be comfortable engaging with decision-makers ranging from marketing managers to CEOs.
  • A team player who can work collaboratively.
  • Must have attributes that include a strong work ethic, the ability to sell, and a KPI-driven mindset.
  • Enjoys travel, domestically and internationally.
The ideal candidate possesses a hunter mentality with a drive to pursue new business opportunities independently. 
  • Must be highly KPI-driven and capable of handling metrics such as call time, CRM usage, and generating new opportunities daily.
  • The role involves managing a mix of 50% provided leads and 50% self-sourced opportunities.
  • Must demonstrate a strong work ethic , along with curiosity, willingness to learn, time management, critical thinking, and adaptability.
  • Must be strategically and commercially minded, able to implement initiatives.
  • Experience in the events industry is preferred but not required and experience in transport and logistics is considered a plus but also not required.
