Our client is a results-driven, family-owned landscaping and construction firm that has evolved into a premier team of industry professionals. Operating with a meritocracy-based philosophy, they prioritize performance and professional standards over traditional seniority. The company has built a culture centered on mutual respect, professionalism, and a genuine passion for the work, fostering an environment where team members are excited to contribute to the organization's rapid growth. With a focus on high-quality residential and expanding commercial sectors, they maintain a strong local reputation backed by exceptional community engagement and a commitment to employee well-being.
The Opportunity
This is a pivotal leadership mandate for a seasoned professional to assume full operational and financial P&L accountability for a $7 million organization. As the successor to the current General Manager, you will lead the company through a period of significant expansion into new geographic markets and commercial construction sectors. This hands-on role requires a strategic driver capable of managing multi-million-dollar budgets, optimizing job costing, and mentoring a high-performing team across maintenance, construction, and tree divisions. You will be the primary authority responsible for driving the organization from its current state toward an $8 million revenue target.
The Location
The position is based in the Prescott / Yavapai County area of Arizona. This region offers a high quality of life with a rapidly growing population and a robust market for both high-end residential landscaping and commercial development. The area serves as a central hub for surrounding communities such as Chino Valley, Dewey, and Humboldt, providing a beautiful Northern Arizona backdrop characterized by a unique climate that includes distinct seasonal shifts and occasional snow.
What You Will Do
Assume full P&L accountability including managing balance sheets, financial forecasts, and rigorous cost controls.
Direct daily operations for all departments to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Oversee the sales pipeline and provide daily coaching to the sales team to improve close ratios and hit revenue metrics.
Conduct daily field visits to ensure job site safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
Lead daily stand-up meetings and foster a culture of accountability and professionalism.
Manage the mechanic shop and oversee material readiness and vehicle efficiency to prevent operational bottlenecks.
Implement and refine operational processes and project scheduling to enhance overall productivity.
Act as a key decision-maker in personnel matters, including recruiting, mentoring, and performance management
Who You Are
A seasoned leader with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in operational leadership and P&L management, specifically within the landscape or construction industries.
A data-driven professional with exceptional financial acumen and a proven track record of managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
A decisive communicator with high emotional intelligence, capable of navigating challenging conversations with firmness and fairness.
A proactive problem-solver who identifies operational bottlenecks and implements preventative measures.
An early riser comfortable with a rigorous schedule, typically starting between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM.
A results-oriented professional who avoids workplace drama and prioritizes measurable outcomes over activity.
A team player willing to participate in community events and lead by example in the field.
The Ideal Candidate is a local professional with deep industry knowledge who can seamlessly integrate into a high-performing culture without disrupting the "apple cart". You must have a strong background in residential-heavy construction environments and possess the ability to push a sales department toward aggressive growth. Unlike managers from large-scale commercial maintenance firms, you are comfortable with the high-pressure demands of a sales-driven environment and are equally adept at reviewing P&L statements as you are at walking a job site. You are a strategic thinker who can "wear multiple hats," balancing office-based financial oversight with active field leadership.
Why Join the Team?
Joining this organization offers the opportunity to lead a premier company during a phase of explosive regional growth and market diversification. You will work within a merit-based environment that rewards high performance and professional excellence while maintaining a supportive culture that values employee well-being. The company provides essential tools for success, including a company vehicle and gas card for professional use. This is a chance to fully own the operations of a successful business, supported by a talented and dedicated team, with clear pathways for professional impact and organizational leadership.
