Director of Distribution

Newnan, GA

About Our Client

Our client is  a premier, 100-year-old employee-owned technology distributor and supply chain partner that has successfully evolved from a traditional wholesale model into a multi-faceted logistics powerhouse. By combining their deep industry roots with cutting-edge e-commerce fulfillment and third-party logistics (3PL) solutions, they manage complex client accounts under rigorous customer SLAs. Completely empowered by the employee co-owners, fostering a collaborative culture focused on long-term growth, sustainable business practices, and community impact.

The Opportunity

This is a transformative leadership opportunity to take complete operational ownership of a prominent distribution center currently navigating a strategic recovery and scaling phase. As the Director, you will step into an operation poised for massive expansion, with plans to scale the workforce from 150 to approximately 300 employees over the next two years. This role is designed for a builder who wants to move away from daily production work and focus on building sustainable systems, instilling foundational process discipline, and developing next-generation leaders. You will have the unique challenge of stabilizing a critical facility while paving a direct career path toward future senior executive leadership opportunities.

The Location

The position is fully onsite and located in Newnan, Georgia, situated roughly 25 minutes south of the Atlanta Airport. This vibrant and growing region offers an exceptional quality of life and is highly accessible from many desirable Atlanta suburbs. Located within a critical southeastern logistics corridor, the facility provides an ideal hub for a leader rooted in the local area who understands the regional market dynamics and traffic realities.

What You Will Do

  • Direct and implement all operational policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure a world-class distribution environment.
  • Hold department managers accountable to communicate and drive core corporate policies down to all hourly and salaried teammates.
  • Stabilize facility performance by establishing clear operational goals, driving ISO certifications, and conducting root-cause analysis for underperforming metrics.
  • Manage complex customer relationships, internal and external customer expectations, and strict SLAs matching a fast-paced 3PL environment.
  • Lead the development of annual facility budgets, identify annual cost take-out initiatives, and make strategic recommendations to improve cost effectiveness.
  • Foster an engaged continuous-improvement culture focused heavily on quality, safety compliance, and effective multi-shift communication programs.
  • Partner with human resources and other distribution centers to ensure proper labor allocation, skill distribution, and proactive succession planning.

Who You Are

  • A seasoned logistics professional with a bachelor’s degree in logistics, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • An experienced leader with ten years of experience managing logistics contracts and a minimum of five years in a senior management role within a high-volume, complex distribution environment.
  • A proven team builder with five or more years of experience managing multiple levels of management and a large hourly workforce.
  • A strategic operator with strong relationship-building skills and a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with corporate clients and executive leadership.
  • A hands-off-the-box leader who measures success through team capability, leadership development, metrics, and foundational operational discipline.
  • A resilient professional with previous P&L exposure and large-scale operational responsibility who thrives in environments requiring agility and change management.
The Ideal Candidate is a strategic, people-oriented leader who can harmoniously balance rigorous metric accountability with genuine leadership development. Whether you are an established Director or a Senior Operations Manager ready for full site ownership, you must possess the maturity to stabilize a recovering operation and guide it through a massive hiring surge. We are looking for a long-term builder who wants to stay with the organization for 3 to 5 years to complete full business cycles and leave a lasting impact. A strong, intentional commitment or existing tie to the local area is highly preferred to ensure long-term stability and leadership continuity.

Flexibility & Work-Life Integration

This is a fully onsite leadership role that requires a highly visible executive presence across the facility's operations. The schedule is intentionally balanced across shifts to ensure you are actively engaging, mentoring, and supporting both daytime and evening teams. Rather than working restrictive early morning hours that miss critical end-of-day execution windows, leadership presence is focused on core operating hours to drive sustainable operational discipline while maintaining personal and professional sustainability.

Why Join the Team?

Our client offers an incredible opportunity to participate directly in the financial success of the business through a lucrative Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and a comprehensive 401k structure. The commitment to the employee co-owners is reflected in an extensive benefits package including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, tuition assistance, gym reimbursements, and an employee purchase program. By joining the team, you will enter a supportive, collaborative environment that avoids short-term fixes, choosing instead to reward dedicated leaders who deliver lasting operational excellence and complete business transformations.
